Product news: S-Works Recon: New cross-country racing shoe from Specialized

21 November 2018 by Michael Faiss

Product news / clothing: At the end of the 2019 season, Specialized is presenting its new top shoe for XC and Cross with the S-Works Recon. Available in black and red, the kick inherits some characteristics of the S-Works street shoes and will be available in stores from December.

With the S-Works Recon, the Californians from Specialized present their new top shoe for XC racers. Visually and technically inspired by the S-Works road shoe Road 7, it naturally meets the most important criteria for racers who want to get maximum performance out of themselves: At 270g in size 42, it is one of the lightest cross-country shoes ever and the sole is sufficient in terms of stiffness also almost as good as the top street shoes in their own range.

S-Works Recon

Optimum power transmission is therefore guaranteed. However, since a stiff, light shoe only makes you faster if the fit is right, the S-Works Recon was also developed according to the Specialized Body Geometry principle. Outsole and footbed are ergonomically designed and tested under medical conditions. The focus here was on the vertical cranking or pedaling movement, during which the shoe should offer the highest level of comfort and at the same time provide stability. The Recon shoes come with a reinforced toe area so that the feet are well protected even in the tough everyday racing of XC and cross racers. In addition, special, particularly stretch-resistant fibers in the rear foot area ensure a firm and secure fit. Speaking of a secure fit: Two Boa S3 twist locks allow the shoe to be fixed finely and quickly, even during racing.

With on the one hand reserved, but somehow distinctive look, one should appeal to many different tastes; If you don't need an optical understatement, you can simply opt for the bright red version of the S-Works Recon instead of the simple black version. The new noble shoe is already available in December at a price of 349,90 euros.
