MTB Cycling: Sam Hill is the 2017 Enduro World Series Champion! At the last race of the season in the Italian Finale Ligure, however, the Australian had to give his all again to avoid losing the targeted title to Adrien Dailly. In the women's category, Cecile Ravanel, who had dominated throughout the season, was already the overall winner before the start of Finale Ligure.
What a season, what a final! The last race of the Enduro World Series 2017 should once again be a showdown between two riders: Sam Hill and Adrien Dailly. The latter still had chances for the title before the last race, but would have had to put Sam Hill in his place. Not an easy task, the experienced Australian unwound the stages like clockwork. With less risk, but with a very consistent performance, Sam Hill drove to a secure third place in Finale Ligure. The exhausting stages in Finale Ligure visibly drained Adrien Dailly of his strength. From the sixth stage, the newcomer's legs couldn't keep up. In the end he had to admit defeat with a fourth place behind Hill. Sam Hill finished the 2017 Enduro World Series season with 3410 points, followed by Adrien Dailly (3280 points) and Greg Callaghan (2950 points).
With overall victory in the 2017 Enduro World Series, the 32-year-old Australian clinched another important title in his impressive career. Sam Hill started with BMX and Motocross. At the age of twelve he drove his first downhill race. In 2002 and 2003 he won the title of Junior World Champion, followed by the title of Elite Men's World Champion in 2006, 2007 and 2010. From 2004 to 2009 Sam Hill won the overall title twice in the Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup and finished four times the World Cup season as second overall. The Australian has been racing for the CRC Mavic / Nukeproof team since the 2013 season.
