MTB cycling: In the second run of the Enduro World Series 2017, the participants had to face the extremely adverse track conditions in the rain. After a total of seven stages, Adrien Dailly (Lapierre Gravity Republic) was able to claim his first win in the men's race. The women's race was won by Isabeau Courdurier (SUNN).
The dusty and dry conditions during training were quickly forgotten. Torrential rain forced the riders to completely rethink the race. The driving fun of the training gave way to bitter seriousness. A race that was also decided by falls. It was particularly hard on Greg Callaghan (Cube Action Team) who fell on the last stage and lost his goal of victory, dropping to second place. Adrien Dailly was able to win his first men's race. Completing the podium was Sam Hill (Chain Reaction Cycles Mavic), who was able to catch up in the final stages.
In the women's race, Isabeau Courdurier made her claim to victory clear from the start and won the first three stages straight away. Stages four and five went to Cecile Ravanel (Commençal Vallnord) but it wasn't enough to rob the young French rider of her first Enduro World Series win. Ines Thoma (Canyon Factory Enduro Team), who is second in the overall standings behind Cecile Ravanel, finished third. On May 13th, the Enduro World Series 2017 will start in the third round on Madeira - hopefully with better weather conditions.
