MTB cycling: The 27th season of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano will kick off next weekend in Lourdes, France. It is the third time Lourdes has opened the season. On Sunday, the races will be streamed live.
Unlike many World Cups, which are often held quite far from urban centers, the Lourdes circuit is less than five minutes from downtown. The organizers are therefore expecting around 35.000 spectators to attend the opening race. Both Rachel Atherton (GBR) and Aaron Gwin (USA) start the new season as defending champions with number 1. The spectators can definitely look forward to a hot race. The route in Lourdes is not without it: on the short, only about 2 km long downhill slope, 423 meters of depth are destroyed, the average gradient is 21,5%.
