Market: There are no groundbreaking innovations to announce for the 2017 season in the model range for full-suspension MTBs from Corratec. Instead, they rely on careful model maintenance and some detail improvements. With a total of four models, you still cover a very wide range from Enduro/Freeride to Cross Country racing files.
Corratec MTBs 2017: The Fullies from Enduro to XC
The Upper Bavarian manufacturer is particularly proud of two self-developed technologies: Inside Link and 10Hz. While the Inside Link rear end is used on every Corratec Fully, the unique 10Hz technology is primarily reserved for the higher-priced models. If you now only understand the train station, the two terms should be briefly explained. Corratec uses Inside Link to describe the rear triangle kinematics that were introduced some time ago. Translated, Inside Link means "inner joint" and that's where you hit the nail on the head: The rear end rotates around a virtual pivot point located in the area of the rear frame triangle. Other very successful kinematic concepts such as VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) or Giants Maestro rely on the same principle. The big advantages are a very high anti-squat value, which prevents rocking, and the complete decoupling of the rear triangle from the overall system. The latter means that the response behavior does not change even during braking.
The keyword 10Hz also has something to do with the rear triangle. This is a special elastomer that sits between the damper mount on the frame and the damper itself. This should absorb small impacts and fine, high-frequency vibrations (hence the name) and thus act in a range in which the impacts are too hard for the tires but not yet strong enough for the damper. This should not only provide additional comfort, but also save energy, for example during longer marathons.
The Enduro XTB 175 ranks at the upper end of Corratec's suspension travel scale. It was introduced last season and with 170mm of suspension travel at the front and 160 or 175mm at the rear, it is also prepared for really rough terrain. Both equipment variants rely on 10Hz technology - hence the "additional spring travel" of 15mm. The rear end itself releases 160mm, the elastomer contributes another 15mm. With the powerful brakes from Magura, dropper post and 170mm suspension forks at the front, both models are ready for the trail. At the start of the model last year, the XTB Riders, the first Corratec Enduro Team, were launched.
In the mid-travel range, the Inside Link 140 and 120 models offer a wide range. The Inside Link 140 is a comfortable tourer with enough spring travel reserves for fast descents, thanks to the 10Hz elastomer a lot of comfort on forest highways and the necessary liveliness when it goes uphill for a while. If you can get by with less travel and value effortless uphills, you can also take a look at the 120mm model, but you have to do without the 10Hz technology here.
One of Corratec's MTB highlights is the XC-Fully Inside Link Carbon 10hz - with a carbon frame, 100mm spring travel, 10Hz technology and a total weight of less than 10kg for the top model, it is a thoroughbred racing file for racing and marathon use.

Corratec MTBs 2017: The hardtails – from modern to classic
Corratec Revolution 29
The Revolution is the spearhead of the 2017 hardtails from Corratec. The Revolution 29SL frame used in the two top models weighs just 1.020g and can therefore keep up with the lightest representatives of its kind. The geometry is appropriate for the area of use: Steep steering angle for lots of power on climbs, long top tube for a sporty seating position and short chain stays for a lot of agility on the racetrack.
Drive: Shimano XTR 2×11
suspension fork: Rock Shox RS-1
brakes: Magura MT8 Storm
Weight: 9,7kg
Price: € 5.999
Drive: Shimano XT 2×11
suspension fork: RockShox SID RL

The geometry of the slightly heavier Revolution 29 frame corresponds to the top model - so the handling of the three cheaper models should only differ slightly from the two noble versions.
Corratec Superbow
With the Superbow, there is also a real classic in the 2017 range. The unique, striking frame design of the Superbow, with its curved lines, was as popular today as it was then. Superbow fans are offered three model variants this season - from the high-quality Superbow Team 29 with XT gears and Rock Shox Reba suspension fork to the Superbow Fun, which offers a low-priced entry into the MTB world for €999.
All models have the frame made of aluminum in common, which has existed in its form for a year or two, but whose geometry has moved with the times. A slightly slacker steering angle than the Revolution 29, for example, makes the Superbow a little more forgiving on difficult terrain, but the sporty, stretched seating position also puts enough pressure on the front wheel on climbs so that nothing burns even on steep ramps.
Corratec X Vert
The Corratec X-Vert series offers an affordable entry into the world of mountain bikes. The aluminum frame comes with a balanced geometry that looks just as good on tours as it does on hobby marathons. The four top models of the wide X-Vert range are available with either 29″ or the lighter, agile 27,5″ wheels. When it comes to equipment, there is something suitable for almost every requirement and every budget, from high-quality XT full equipment with Manitou forks to inexpensive entry-level bikes.
