General: iXS Rookies Cup from 2017 with new title sponsor Specialized

19 December 2016 by Andrew Waldera

MTB cycling: From 2017, the junior series iXS Rookies Cup will present itself with a new title sponsor as the "Specialized Rookies Cup presented by iXS". In the coming season, six races will be held in Germany and Austria as part of the racing series. As the new host, the Bavarian town of Oberammergau will welcome the young racers.

Since 2008, the Rookies Cup has offered young downhill racers the opportunity to start racing early on under ideal conditions. Standards and conditions are aligned with the other races that are held as part of the various iXS Cups. This should make it easier for young, talented drivers to switch to the big, international racing series. With the new title sponsor Specialized, the downhill junior series is receiving new attention.

For the coming season, the Specialized Rookies Cup presented by iXS has been expanded to six races. Oberammergau in Bavaria is new to the racing calendar of the junior series. The start of the 2017 season traditionally marks the iXS Dirt Masters Festival in Winterberg in May. After Winterberg, three races will be held in Austria: Innsbruck, Saalbach and Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. After the stop in Oberammergau, the young racers will face the final in Steinach in October.
