Olympia: 20 athletes from 10 countries will start at the Olympic Games in Rio in a little over two weeks in various disciplines with a bike from the Koblenz manufacturer Canyon. The Aerorad CF SLX and Ultimate CF SLX used in triathlon and on the road have a special design based on the colors of the Brazilian national flag.
The Olympic Games are the big dream of many athletes – for many, a medal at the Olympics means far more than world or European championships. But the Olympics are not only important to the athletes - despite the many negative headlines at the moment - but also to their respective outfitters. The direct seller Canyon from Koblenz has been well represented with its bikes in professional sports for several years - be it on the road or in triathlon. This year in Rio, twenty athletes from ten countries will be chasing medals on Canyon bikes. Something special has been thought of for these athletes.
The frames of the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX and Aerorad CF SLX that will be used are given a special green finish by the designers, which is supposed to be reminiscent of the color of the Brazilian national flag. It doesn't make the bikes any faster, but it might give the athletes a few percent extra motivation. Lisa Brennauer, Trixi Worrack, Mieke Kröger and Anne Haug from Germany will take their places on the green floors. There are also top international athletes and medal candidates such as Alejandro Valverde, Joaquim Rodriguez, Andrey Amador and Simon Spilak.
The Summer Olympics start on August 5, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. A preview of the cycling competitions will follow shortly on Velomotion.
