cycling: A week ago the drivers' union CPA presented their newly developed safety concept and entered into talks with the UCI. After the proposal was published, numerous professionals apparently contacted the responsible departments to contribute their own ideas and suggestions. The product of this professional input is to be presented to the world association in the coming days.
The CPA continues to put pressure on the world association UCI to take measures to promote driver safety after (too) many serious falls and incidents in recent months. The first discussions about the safety concept drawn up by the drivers' union have already taken place - with neither the CPA nor the UCI commenting on the status of the discussion. During the UCI Pro Cycling Council meeting tomorrow and the day after in Switzerland, CPA President Gianni Bugno will present the newly developed proposal.
96% of the drivers had agreed to the already prepared proposal via the CPA's online vote. "We expect the UCI and other stakeholders to listen to our suggestions and put them into action by incorporating the points into the UCI agenda," said Bugno. In addition, there are plans to raise the issue again during the Tour de France in July and thus prevent it from fading into the background again.
