Spectrum: For the 13th time, the Tegernsee Valley will be the scene of the Haibike MTB Festival on June 4th and 5th. The MTB marathon, which is one of the most important competitions in Germany, is an integral part of the event, which this year again offers a large supporting programme. The organizer flowmotion has now announced that there will be three new routes and an additional race format in 2016.
The MTB marathon, which is part of the Ritchey MTB Challenge, will be held this year on the king of the Tegernsee mountains, the Wallberg. The pros and amateurs have a choice of three routes, ranging from short to long distances. The short-distance marathon is 23 kilometers long and starts and finishes in Rottach-Egern via the Wallbergmoos and the Setzbergsattel. 650 vertical meters are on the program for the short distance, and a special highlight for the riders is a 2,5 kilometer long, beginner-friendly single trail. The starters of the middle distance ride the circuit of the short distance twice in a row. A demanding single trail and spectacular views of Lake Tegernsee await the long-distance riders. Over a length of 82,5 kilometers with a crisp 3150 meters in altitude, three laps lead over the Wallbergsattel and the Wallbergmoos.
Haibike MTB Festival Tegernsee with a new race format
As a further highlight, a new race format will be offered this year, which is aimed at mountain bikers of all ability and fitness levels. In addition to the normal competitions, the "Stier & Gams vom Wallberg" is held, a competition with uphill, downhill and endurance ratings. Thus, for the first time, all-mountain bikers, freeriders and enduro riders can also actively participate in the events. E-bikers can also compete in the competitions. Of course there will be the Haibike ePerformance Race again this year. The third edition of the e-bike race takes place on the beginner-friendly new route of the short marathon. All riders with e-bikes up to 25 km/h and a maximum motor power of 250 watts are eligible to participate.
