MTB cycling: Just a week after their victories in Chile, Cecile Ravanel (Commencal Vallnord Enduro) and Richie Rude (Yeti / Fox Shox) were already back on the top podium places at the end of the race weekend in Argentina. The French and the American will again start the next round as the overall leaders.
The second round of the Enduro World Series in Argentina continued where the first round left off: with lots of dust and drama. Two days and dusty stages formed the main recipe for the race at Cerro Catedral. After a total of six stages, Richie Rude could look back on three won stages and a lead of over seven seconds. Second place went to Belgian Martin Maes from the GT Factory Racing Team, who in turn opened up a lead of almost 28 seconds on Sam Blenkinsop from New Zealand. Even if Richie Rude's dominance seems almost overwhelming after two runs, the last word in the Enduro World Series has certainly not been spoken yet! There are still some competitions left and riders like Nico Lau (Cube Action Team) are always good for surprises.
Debutante Casey Brown finishes second at the EWS in Argentina
The women are also going it alone: France's Cecile Ravanel won no fewer than five stages, only Canada's Casey Brown (Trek) was faster once. Ravanel built up an incredible lead of over 1:04.66 over the two days in Argentina over the Canadian. How strong the French is is also shown by the strong performance of the Canadian, who had a lead of over 32 seconds on the third-placed French Isabeau Courdurier. It was also pleasing that Canyon team rider Ines Thoma did well again with fourth place. It will also remain exciting for the women - not least because of the debutant Casey Brown, who achieved a sensational result with her second place in Argentina!
