MTB cycling: The new edition of the MTB racing classic Montagnetta Milano was extremely successful for the Scott-Odlo team last Easter Monday. Both the Swiss Nino Schurter in the men's race and the Swede Jenny Rissveds in the women's race were able to assert themselves on the extremely slippery course.

The men's race was characterized by the greatest tension until the end. A group of four consisting of Stephane Tempier (Bianchi-Countervail), Florian Vogel (Focus XC), Marco Aurelio Fontana (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Nino Schurter dominated the action for long stretches. After Florian Vogel had lost contact with the trio, a tough duel developed between Schurter and Fontana in the last lap, which Tempier was no longer able to counter. Fontana was leading a few meters from the finish, but was then coldly overtaken by the world champion. In the end, Nino Schurter was only one bike length ahead of Marco Aurelio Fontana. The former German champion Markus Schulte-Lünzum (Focus XC) had to settle for twelfth place in Milan.

In the women's race, the Swede Jenny Rissveds led the field from the third lap, steadily increased her lead over her pursuers and easily secured victory. With her strong performance, the U23 World Cup winner relegated the British Cross-Country Junior Vice World Champion Evie Richards to second place, who also caused a big surprise with second place. Despite a fall and a resulting defective shoe, Kathrin Stirnemann was also able to make it onto the podium. The best German starter in the field was German champion Helen Grobert (Ghost Factory Racing) in sixth place, Nadine Rider (AMG-Rotwild) was eleventh.
