Market: For more than ten years now, the ROSE Biketown in Bocholt has been a large shop right at the company headquarters of the German direct mail order company. Since ten years feels like an eternity in our fast-moving times, the store has now been comprehensively modernized and the advantages of an online shop or mail order and local trade are now combined on the 6.000m² sales area.
The model for the modernized store in Bocholt was the ROSE Biketown in Munich, which opened 1 1/2 years ago and has enjoyed great popularity ever since. Its concept received the Stores of the Year Award from the German Retail Association in 2015. Of course, the prominent iPad pedestals in front of all the bikes in the exhibition area, where customers have direct access to the online shop, can configure their dream bike and read the individual price directly, catch the eye. If the little pictures on the tablet aren't enough for you, you can view your dream bike life-size on one of the three large configuration walls.
With the new concept, the aim is to combine stationary trade with the online shop - for example, it is possible to start configuring the bike of your choice on the computer at home - every progress is saved in the customer account. If you are unsure about a certain component, would like the on-site advice or want to see the full size of the bike you want, that's no problem: simply have the customer card read at the Biketown site and configure the bike further in the store, with personal advice if you wish .
But not only buyers of complete bikes benefit from the digital elements of the new Biketown in Bocholt, but also the purchase of individual products such as saddles or shoes is made easier. Modern measurement stations in the store measure buttocks and/or feet and save the data in the customer account. You can then look through and order the right shoes or saddles from the comfort of your couch - the software compares the measured data and suggests suitable products.
Another fundamental element of the new ROSE Biketown Bocholt is a comprehensive test environment for all bike-related products. Whether it’s a darkroom for the right bike light, a wind turbine for the right glasses or a pump station to try out the air pumps – the new store also offers things that the Online shop just can't deliver. This also includes the 'Community Lounge' – a coffee bar on the first floor for cyclists. In addition to coffee, there are also juices, cakes and smaller meals such as wraps. The offer is not only aimed at customers in the store, but also expressly at bicycle tourists or groups who are cycling in the area and looking for something to eat.
