Lifestyle: Thomas Genon, who starts for the Canyon Factory Freeride Team, is the new FMB World Tour Champion. After the last major event of the year, the Red Bull Rampage in Utah, the Belgian was able to assert himself in the overall standings with a lead of more than 300 points in front of Brett Rheeder and Nicholi Rogatkin.
The pro freeriders have had a tough and exciting year with many spectacular events as part of the FMB Diamond Series. The start of the turbulent year was the Crankworx Rotorua Slopestyle / New Zealand in March. With a firework of tricks, the Belgian secured third place behind the Canadian Brett Rheeder and the American Nicholi Rogatkin on the playful course. The second stop of the FMB Diamond Series was in Munich on the Swatch Prime Line, where Thomas Genon was only just beaten by the Canadian. Nicholi Rogatkin was also on the podium again with third place.
At the Crankworx Les2Alpes Slopestyle in France, Thomas Genon once again jumped onto the podium with his new Slopestyle Fully Stitched 720. Brett Rheeder was also at the top of the podium in France, but this time it was not Nicholi Rogatkin who took second place, but Canadian Brandon Semenuk. The last two events of the FMB Diamond Series have been held overseas. The first was the Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx Whistler. In front of his home crowd, Canadian Brandon Semenuk was able to assert himself ahead of Nicholi Rogatkin. The consistent performance of the Belgian once again bore fruit: With a third place, Thomas Genon was also back on the podium - and at the same time took over the lead of the FMB World Tour.
The Belgian traveled to Utah for the last event of the year with a lead in his luggage. At the Red Bull Rampage in Utah, Rheeder had to put everything on one card to maybe win after all. Thomas Genon kept his nerve and unwound an impressive program with a final no-hand flip. Fifth place was the reward for a convincing run. But Rheeder wanted to counter again, but overcame his 360 drop and fell. The Canadian couldn't do better than 13th place! So it was clear: Thomas Genon is the new champion of the FMB Diamond Series!
