Spectrum: The life of a freeride legend portrays "Reach For The Sky" presented by YT Industries: The film with and about Cameron Zink (USA) - YT team rider and living legend of freeride sport - provides deep insights into both the career and also into the inner workings of the exceptional athlete. Director Ryan Cleek has succeeded in creating a portrait that is well worth seeing, and which looks back on the most thrilling moments in Cam Zink's career.
As the first ever overall champion of the FMB World Tour, with his Step down backflip From the big "Oakley Sender" at Rampage 2013 and the 100-feet backflip world record, Cam Zink has already become an icon in the MTB scene and has also gained notoriety outside of his sport.
Now the achievements of the adrenaline junkie and father of the family, Zink, are also being honored on film: his childhood friend and filmmaker Ryan Cleek accompanies him for over a year. The two will stop at Red Bull Rampage 2013, Mammoth Mountain (site of the world record backflip) and Rampage 2014, where Zink finished second behind his YT teammate Andreu Lacondeguy.
Reach For The Sky features a behind-the-scenes look at both of Zink's epic Rampage performances and includes previously unreleased material from his world record attempt. The film traces the fascinating career of one of the most successful mountain bikers of all time and illuminates the psyche of the extreme athlete from Reno, Nevada.
At the limit, there are often only centimeters between sporting success and a life-threatening fall. Nonetheless, Zink manages to deal with this extreme pressure – mainly thanks to his immense mental strength.
According to director and producer Ryan Cleek, the film is about never giving up, even in the face of the strongest of adversities, and taking advantage of disadvantages. Cleek particularly praises the commitment of his longtime friend: “He is extremely professional and his family also helped me a lot during the shooting. Cam has worked hard to become one of the biggest in the sport of freeride. I figured his story definitely deserves to be told.”
