Eurobike: With the Shimano XT 8000 group, the most popular and longest-serving drive group from the Japanese manufacturer now speaks 11-speed. Shimano already presented the 11-speed version of the top group XTR last season, so from this season the XT group will also benefit from the expanded range.
As early as April of this year, Shimano announced what many fans and the specialist press had already expected: the new Shimano XT 8000 group, like its big sister model XTR, will come with an 11-speed cassette from this season, which significantly increases the range. The cassette comes with a choice of 10-40 or 10-42 teeth - the latter was specially developed for use with a chain ring and fits conventional 9/10-speed freewheels.
Also new is the side swing front derailleur for the variants with two or three chainrings, which not only saves valuable space, but is also said to work much more precisely than the previous model. Thanks to the new linkage, the new XT front derailleur can also be mounted on frames where there is not enough space for other front derailleurs. Of course, the crank and the brakes have also received an update and now shine in a noble and reserved anthracite.
