MTB cycling: The men's final of the Sprint Championships in Ortenberg ended with some excitement. The leader David Horvath (Lexware Mountainbike Team) was able to thwart the final attack of the defending champion Simon Stiebjahn (Team Bulls) and thus just about secured the coveted gold.

It was a final to the liking of the audience. There was a merciless fight for victory up to the last meter. In the final of the top four, 19-year-old David Horvath immediately took the lead. About 200 meters before the finish line, Simon Stiebjahn launched the last possible counterattack on the last straight before the finish line. The last opportunity for the defending champion to emerge victorious from the race. However, David Horvath cleverly closed the attacker's line and was able to just about maintain his lead. An action that was not without controversy: Stiebjahn complained, but the commissaires confirmed the victory of the Lexware Mountainbike Team rider. Silver went to a disappointed Simon Stiebjahn, while Felix Klausmann (Team LinkRadQuadrat) surprisingly took bronze ahead of Marco Schätzing (Team FujiBikes Rockets). In the women's category, Nadine Rider impressed with a top performance in all runs. The AMG-Rotwild team rider was able to take the title almost without any danger, even though second-placed Majlen Müller (Team FujiBike Rockets) was able to catch up with the Sonthofen rider shortly before the finish line. Third place went to Hannah Grobert.
