Cycling: Team Giant-Alpecin has just announced its line-up for the Vuelta a Espana, which starts in just under two weeks. While John Degenkolb will be there again, those responsible will be without Marcel Kittel, as was the case at the Tour de France.
After winning the points classification at last year's Vuelta, it comes as little surprise that John Degenkolb will be part of the team for this year's Tour of Spain again in 2015. While the German is supposed to focus on the sprint stages and stage wins, he forms a double lead with Tom Dumoulin, with the Dutchman primarily eyeing the individual time trial on stage 17. Coach Christian Guiberteau makes no secret of his team's goals: “As with the Tour, our main goal is to win one day, especially with John. Koen, Luka, Zico and Tom are excellent lead-out drivers.”
It is quite surprising that Marcel Kittel will not be part of the team again. After the previously weak sprint specialist had to do without the Tour de France, many expected to start in the Tour of Spain – including himself Team message not mentioned. At the Tour of Poland last week, Kittel showed improving form and won, among other things, the start in Warsaw.
