cycling: PERSKINDOL SWISS EPIC 2015: Second edition with a top-class starting field

August 16, 2015 by Andrew Waldera

Swiss epic

MTB cycling: The second edition of the PERSKINDOL SWISS EPIC mountain bike stage race will take place in Valais from September 14th to 19th. Numerous world-class athletes will be at the start again this year at the event, which is classified as HC by the UCI.

Two race formats await the teams of two from Germany and abroad: SWISS EPIC with around 400 kilometers and 15.000 meters in altitude and SWISS EPIC FLOW with 300 kilometers and 8.000 meters in altitude. Verbier, Leukerbad, Grächen and Zermatt form the stage locations of the 70% new route. Numerous single trails should provide a new flow experience for the participants. The Topeak-Ergon team is considered the top favorite for the PERSKINDOL SWISS EPIC 2015. The team, consisting of reigning marathon world champion Alban Lakata and former European marathon champion Kristian Hynek, naturally has the best prerequisites for a podium finish.

However, it will not be a walk for the two top drivers! With the African champion Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes, Scott also sends a very strong team of two into the race. Not to be forgotten are the defending champions from the Stöckli-Bixs team, Mathias Flückiger and Lukas Buchli, who will certainly do everything in their power to repeat last year's success. The team with Ralph Näf, who is contesting his last race as a professional in Valais, will also step on the gas. Altogether, teams from 23 nations and 5 continents will be represented at the race. One or the other surprise is certainly not excluded!
