Cycling: Cycling is a global phenomenon – now more than ever. MTN-Qhubeka became the first African team to win a stage on the Tour and their rider Daniel Teklehaimanot triggered a veritable cycling boom in his home country of Eritrea. But not only in Africa more and more people are enjoying this wonderful sport, but also in Asia. This is also shown by the Hong Kong Cyclothon: the first international bicycle race in the Asian metropolis.
The time has come on October 10th and 11th: Then the starting shot will be fired for the first international cycle race in Hong Kong - hobby cyclists are just as welcome as professionals. The organizers are expecting a total of 5.500 participants, who will be divided into eight different categories. Right at the beginning, a real highlight awaits with the night race of the pros through the colorfully illuminated street canyons of Hong Kong.
The other routes lead, among other things, along the world-famous Victoria Harbor with its breathtaking skyline or over the windy Tsing Ma suspension bridge, which otherwise only four-wheel vehicles are allowed to drive on. For all those who don't want to sit on the saddle themselves, but prefer to cheer on the side of the road and enjoy the atmosphere, there is a comprehensive supporting program on the subject of bicycles.
