Cycling: When the starting gun is fired in the Zillertal tomorrow morning, the Zillertal Bike Challenge will be in its seventh year. As in previous years, tough climbs, breathtaking backdrops and other highlights await the more than 520 registered drivers. Velomotion is also there: Lennard Heidenreich won our casting a few weeks ago and will be the lone fighter in the Velomotion powered by CENTURION team.
In the last few minutes, the drivers will be officially welcomed in Fügen in the Zillertal – Gernot Paesold, Managing Director of Zillertal Tourismus GmbH, is also present and is very pleased with the development of the event: "The constantly increasing number of registrations proves that the Zillertal Bike Challenge is becoming more and more popular internationally." This year drivers from 18 nations will face the challenges. On the second day, for example, the ascent to the transition yoke (2.500m) awaits the riders in the King/Queen and Prince/Princess categories, with a sometimes rock-hard 35%!
In the extremely demanding King / Queen of the Mountain category (203 kilometers, 9.180 meters in altitude, 3 days), most of the participants, with almost 250 riders, are at the start. The favorites are definitely the riders of the CENTURION Vaude team, which already showed top performances at the MTB marathon world championships last weekend. In the Prince / Princess category (160 km, 5.300 meters in altitude, 3 days) we are of course keeping our fingers crossed for our "casting winner" Lennard Heidenreich, who will ride for the Velomotion powered by CENTURION team.
