Travel: A new cycle tour operator is now organizing training weekends in the southwest. A preparatory camp for the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon in the Black Forest will kick off.
"Balancing family, job and hobby is a challenge", says Moritz Pfeiffer, founder and head of the new cycle tour operator road bike escape. "There is not always enough time and money for a long training camp with a long journey." Pfeiffer's travel offer should remedy the situation. “We organize small escapes from everyday life. By this we mean long weekends that we devote entirely to cycling – with beautiful tours in great scenery, pleasant hotels and good food.” The destinations are the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald region and the Swabian Alb, later the Palatinate Forest and the Vosges will also be added.
Ötztal preparation in the Black Forest
A first offer is aimed at marathon cyclists at the beginning of August who want to fine-tune their mountain form a few weeks before the Ötztal Cycle Marathon or Alpenbrevet. "From August 6th to 9th, we will collect altitude meters in the Black Forest, starting from the Freiburg location.", explains Pfeiffer. “On long climbs like Kandel, Schauinsland, Belchen or Blauen we get the finishing touches for the highlight of the year. Of course you are also very welcome without marathon ambitions or a starting place, the region around Freiburg is Germany's most beautiful racing bike area." The offer comprises three nights including half board in a hotel in Freiburg beer house, the development of route suggestions, four guided tours in two performance classes and, if you are interested, tips and tricks on driving technique and training theory. Prices start at EUR 369 per person.
High fun factor, medium sporting level
The focus of the racing bike escape offers is the fun of cycling together. "In addition to the training effect, we are concerned with the shared experience, riding in a group, getting to know like-minded people, and exchanging ideas with one another." explains Pfeiffer, "And we don't drive against each other, but with each other. In addition to the Ötztal training camp at the beginning of August, a four-day end-of-season trip around Kaiserstuhl and Tuniberg is planned for the end of September. The offer will be expanded in 2016.
