When Hannibal died in 218 B.C. BC set out with 50.000 soldiers and their elephants for the first recorded crossing of the Alps and inflicted a severe defeat on the Romans due to this tactical and logistical masterpiece, no one could have guessed what history this mountain range would write.
In 2015, almost every child knows the highest mountain range in the heart of Europe, and yet it has lost none of its grandeur and uniqueness.
The myth of the force of nature, the clarity and purity of this landscape acts like a great magnet for everyone who is looking for freedom, adventure and fulfillment.
So far so good. "Nice for the mountaineers and mountain bikers, they can let off steam in the steep, impassable terrain, with my racing bike I only have the well-known standard route left", one or the other will think.
Not even close! The EnduranceNetwork from Munich offers tours of different levels of difficulty especially for racing cyclists, which lead through the Alps to Lake Garda in two to five days.
It always starts in Munich, by bike or by bus, which also takes care of the escort service on the route. Overnight stays with breakfast in nice hotels, experienced guides, meals on the route and return transport are included in the service package.
“The challenge of the Transalp on a racing bike is equally exciting for hobby cyclists and racers alike, the pace decides! The mountain tells you very quickly what is good and suitable for you. Many take our tours to prepare for big bike marathon races like the Ötztaler, the Supergiro Dolomiti or the Alpenbrevet", reports A|N Kopf and Ironman Mathias Flunger.
Some time ago, the endurance network team was on the road again. A large group set out to attack the Transalp Sterzing extended. Start from Munich, from there we curled up to the first coffee break at the Benediktbeuern monastery, past the Kochelsee and Walchensee the wonderful day of cycling led to Leutasch. With its familiar and very warm atmosphere, the Hebehof always invites you to relax and feel good.
A really great, second day awaited us with the very challenging route over the Timmelsjoch and the Jaufenpass with the day's destination in Vipiteno. With glorious weather and a great atmosphere in the group, the kilometers and altitude meters follow almost by themselves, the snow walls on the roadside of the Timmelsjoch were a welcome refreshment for us.
In Sterzing, more riders joined the A|N Peleton, they had decided to ride the shorter route, two day stages to Lake Garda.
Peter was very, very kind to us. So we "climbed" the Penser Joch, enjoyed fantastic views and landed in our accommodation in Eppan in the early afternoon. The obligatory visit to the Pizzeria Meraner was once again a pleasure!
The fourth day and thus the grand finale of the tour followed the route over one of the most beautiful road bike passes of all, the Mendel Pass, followed by the Passo Andalo, past Lake Molveno and via the Passo Ballino we headed towards our goal of Lago di Garda.
The dream days with a great group dynamic will always stay in our heads, we are already looking forward to the next ones with you!
