MTB cycling: As part of the iXS Dirt Masters Festival in Winterberg, the first run of the iXS German Downhill Cup 2015 took place on the Pentecost weekend. The Swiss Nick Beer (Radon Magura Factory) was able to win the internationally strong field of the Elite Men class with a strong performance.
The Swiss not only impressed with the best time in the seeding run, but also set the fastest time in yesterday's final run. With a lead of 1,5 seconds, the reigning Swiss champion relegated New Zealand's Rupert Chapman (Bergamont Hayes) to second place. Austrian Manuel Gruber from the Radon Magura Factory team finished third, while his teammate Benny Strasser was sixth as the best German driver. In the Elite Women class, the German Kim Schwemmer was able to assert herself ahead of the Swiss Carina Cappellari (Radon Magura Factory) and Maria Franke (Next Racing Generation) from Germany.
Although the weather on the last day of the iXS Dirt Masters Festival was not at its best, a large number of spectators followed the iXS German Downhill Cup races. The organizer was able to register a total of 35.000 visitors on the four event days of the festival in Winterberg. Around 1.200 ambitious participants and a jam-packed program provided lots of action and adrenaline again this year. The date for the iXS Dirt Masters Festival 2016 has already been set: May 13th to 16th should definitely be marked in bold in the calendar. For the next run of the iXS German Downhill Cup 2015, however, you don't have to wait that long. The second run will take place from June 12th to 14th in nearby Willingen.
