Cycling: After the road career of the great Sir Bradley Wiggins last weekend at Paris-Roubaix came to an end, the Englishman from Team Sky devotes himself entirely to his career on the track. The first milestone this year should be the hour world record – on June 7th he will be chasing the hour on the London Olympic track.
Many cycling fans eagerly awaited Wiggins' announcement of the hour record. After he commented on this a few months ago, there is finally a fixed date. On June 7, he will be the Australian Rohan Dennis record set in February attack from 52,491km. Only recently Thomas Dekker was at the best mark failed – with Alex Dowsett, however, the next challenger is already waiting on May 2nd. Wiggins' compatriot had planned his attempt earlier this year but had to postpone due to injury.
For fans of "Wiggo", however, one thing is clear: After the hourly world record has now been improved three times since October 2014 after the UCI changed the regulations (through Jens Voigt, Matthias Brandle and Rohan Dennis), Bradley Wiggins' record will last longer. We are very curious to see whether the charismatic Brit will be able to live up to expectations – and whether Tony Martin will try again this year like he did before leaked several times.
