Cycling: Hardly a week now goes by without a professional chasing the hour. Today it's the turn of Dutchman Thomas Dekker, who will attempt Rohan Dennis' recent record at the Bicentenary Velodrome in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
The teamless Dekker is the first rider to aim for the record in South America - at 1.885m above sea level. To beat the 52,491km bar set by his former teammate Rohan Dennis, the 30-year-old undoubtedly needs a top performance. Dekker isn't necessarily putting himself under pressure, but will try to at least enjoy the event a little: “It is an honor to take part in such a historic event as the World Hour Record. But I also know that it will be a brutal event that you have to treat with the necessary respect. Great riders have attempted the record in the past, some have succeeded, others have failed.”
The record attempt starts at 12.15:19.15 p.m. local time – 2:XNUMX p.m. here in Germany. Those who want to follow Dekker's hunt live will have to rely on Eurosport XNUMX, as the UCI will not be offering a stream this time. However, we will report immediately after the end of the attempt how the Dutchman fared.
