Market: You can simply rely on Shimano - with each new update of the individual drive groups, they receive the features of the higher-quality groups from the previous year: Shimano speaks of the "trickle-down effect". Now the Tiagra road bike entry-level group is benefiting from this.
The orientation towards the higher-quality groups 105, Ultegra and Dura-Ace is already apparent from a visual point of view. The new Tiagra crank gets a much slimmer design in modern Meteor Gray and also inherits the very popular 4-arm design with a 110mm BCD. The chainring combinations 52-36 and 50-34 can both be installed on the same standard crank arm. The new STI shifters have been completely redesigned and enable easier and more precise shifting of the 10-speed rear derailleur. Shimano has given the latter a new tension ratio, which should benefit the longevity in particular. Also new is the compatibility with sprockets up to 34 teeth, which significantly increases the range of use. There were small but effective updates to the brakes - the braking power is said to have been increased by 30% and in conjunction with the new brake levers the controllability has also been improved.
The Tiagra 4700 is expected to be on store shelves by June.
