Cycling: The American Bobby Lea is a guest rider with the Maloja Pushbikers and did an amazing job at the Revolution Series in Glasgow last weekend. He was able to defend his team's overall lead without his teammate Nico Heßlich, who was absent at short notice.
The Revolution Series is a series of track cycling events held in Great Britain: Manchester, London and Glasgow are the venues. The fourth of a total of six rounds took place on Saturday, in which the Maloja Pushbikers went as the leading team. But the omens were bad: Team driver Nico Heßlich had injured his hand in a fall and had to miss the team event in Glasgow. So guest driver Bobby Lea was left without his teammates - but that shouldn't stop the US boy.
The 31-year-old saw the unfavorable conditions as an additional incentive and accepted the challenge. "I was extremely motivated, also because I wasn't happy with my results in the last round in Manchester." he said after the race. He managed the almost impossible: As a single driver in the team competition, he was able to achieve top positions without exception and defend his team's lead. 1st place in the points race, 2nd place in the flying lap and two fourth places in the longest lap and in the team elimination race. His comment on this achievement? "If it works, it works" - he is right.
