Market: From February 18th to 22nd, f.re.e took place once again at the Munich exhibition center: one of the largest trade fairs for everything to do with travel and leisure. An entire hall was dedicated to two-wheeled companions and numerous manufacturers presented new and proven products. Including the Spaniards from BH Bikes.
Although the manufacturer from a small town near Bilbao in the Spanish Basque Country covers the entire spectrum of bicycles - from children's bikes to mountain bikes and road to urban - and also showed this at the small but fine booth at f.re.e , the focus was clearly on the e-bikes, which, in addition to the conventional drives from Bosch, Shimano or Panasonic, primarily rely on a specially developed technology called "Emotion".
Bikes with an Emotion drive can be found in the BH product lines Evo, Nitro, Neo and EasyGo. Everything is available here, from e-fully for the sporty trail hunter to relaxed touring and trekking bikes to step-through bikes. The heart of the Emotion bikes is in the rear wheel motor, which in practice is (not) noticeable due to its extremely quiet operating noise. The bikes in the Evo, Nitro and Neo series also have batteries integrated into the frame – this effectively protects the cells from any external influences and also ensures a very elegant, simple look that stands out strongly from conventional pedelecs.
But the big crowd puller at the BH stand came from the EasyGo series. Again and again you saw real crowds of people who gathered around one and the same bike and inspected it closely. The object of desire is called BH EasyGo Race and it is also a pedelec with Emotion drive. What makes it so special: The EasyGo Race is a stylish single-speed bike whose electric heart only becomes apparent at second or third glance. Thanks to the compact rear-wheel motor and the battery stowed in a small saddlebag, the simple, gray bike achieves an extremely tidy look, with some red add-on parts, including high-profile rims, for example, providing colorful accents.
But the bike doesn't just impress visually: at just under 16kg, the weight is quite low for a pedelec and the 6Ah battery is supposed to supply the 250W motor with power for up to 45km. Many visitors reacted in disbelief when they asked about the price: The EasyGo Race costs just €1.325. In view of this data, it would not be surprising if one or the other of these grey-red speedsters were to be seen more often on Germany's roads in the future.
