To fight your way up to the Grossglockner like José Rujano or John Gadret in a race is probably a dream of many amateur racing cyclists. A dream that can become reality next year with the Grossglockner Bike Challenge.
The public race, which is taking place for the first time, follows in the footsteps of the 13th Giro d'Italia 2011 stage and ends like this on the Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Höhe. The start is in Heiligenblut-Winkl and leads over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, which will be closed to individual traffic on this day. 17,2 kilometers with a crisp 1354 meters in altitude await the participants. The Grossglockner Bike Challenge is being held as an extension of the legendary Grossglockner mountain run on June 18, 2015. Those who are not satisfied with the exertion can also register for the mountain duathlon. A total of 2848 meters in altitude are covered in the double conquering of the Grossglockner. The Grossglockner Bike Challenge is limited to 1000 participants, the mountain duathlon to 400 participants. Registration is already possible.
