Cycling: After his contract with Lampre-Merida was not renewed, it already seemed as if Chris Horner would give up the bike. However, it has now been announced that Horner has signed a new one-year contract with an American team.
It was certainly not an easy year for Chris Horner. After his Vuelta victory in 43, the 2013-year-old started the 2014 season with great motivation, but was seriously injured in an accident in April and had to take a forced break. Nonetheless, he achieved the best Lampre-Merida result in this year's Tour with a 17th place finish. However, his contract was not renewed and Horner was left without a new team until recently.
His agent has now confirmed that Horner has signed a one-year contract with an American team. Although no team name has been announced, it is already known that it will not be a World Tour team, so that the rumors about a possible contract with Trek or BMC have been refuted.
