Cycling: Nairo Quintana (Movistar) has left the Tour a day after falling in the first individual time trial of the Vuelta a Espana. Although the Colombian started the 11th stage, he got off his bike after 20 kilometers.
Quintana fell in yesterday's time trial and sustained hip and ankle injuries. After falling again on today's stage, he retired. The Giro winner was then taken to a nearby hospital for further testing.
The Colombian was 11th overall. He was 3:25 minutes behind overall leader Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo). With Quintana eliminated, Alejandro Valverde becomes the sole leader of the Movistar team.
