Cycling: Wout Poels won the 20th stage of the Vuelta a Espana. The Dutchman defeated none other than Remco Evenepoel in the sprint of a 5-man group.

Wout Poels surprises Remco Evenepoel

With a strong and, above all, clever finish Wout poels (Bahrain – Victorious) secured the 20th stage of the Vuelta a Espana. After a section of the Tour de France, the Dutchman also won a stage in the Tour of Spain this year. However, he had to throw everything into the balance to achieve this. Because of the original 31 men in the escape group, five remained by the last kilometer - including none other than Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick Step). But the Belgian reacted too late just before the last corner. Poels drove into the left-hand bend with momentum and couldn't be caught after that. Despite an enormous excess of speed, Evenepoel only remains in second place today.

Sepp Kuss is about to win the Vuelta

The 207,8 kilometer long and extremely undulating section from Manzanares El Real to Guadarrama was an affair for the outliers. Also Lennard Kamna (Bora – hansgrohe) was part of the large group, but was unable to keep up with the decisive attacks around 15 kilometers from the finish. In the favorites group there should no longer be any decisive time gaps well over ten minutes behind the day's winner. The Jumbo – Visma team remained confident and is therefore on the verge of a historic triumph. For the first time in cycling history, a team will win all three major national tours within one calendar year. In addition, she has the podium Sepp Kuss, Jonas Vingegaard and Primois Roglic be fully documented.

| Wout Poels lijkt veel te vroeg aan de sprint te begin, maar what is the Nederlander sterk! Hij houdt a few millimeters over the Evenepoel and from that toch a Dutch overwinning in tens #LaVuelta23.
