Cycling: Just under a month before the UCI Cycling World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain, the Austrian Cycling Association (ÖRV) has nominated its provisional squad.
A total of twelve races will be held from September 21 to 28, 2014, in which new title holders will have to be chosen. While the time trials mainly lead over flat terrain, the course for the road races has it all. On a 18,2 kilometer lap, two climbs with gradients of up to 11 percent have to be mastered.
“We have nominated some riders who should like this route. In all competitions, we expect that smaller groups will rather finish than the entire main draw.", says ÖRV General Secretary Rudolf Massak.
According to the association, the final nomination of all athletes should fall in the first week of September.
