Test: The cyclocross season has already started in some parts of the world and many in this country are also looking forward to the start. We are taking this as an opportunity and in the coming weeks we will be examining components that should help you in training and competitions.
With the Michelin Cyclocross jet we tested a tire that can also be used for trips in the summer over hill and dale invites. As the profile makes clear, the folding tire, which weighs just under 330 grams, is a tire that should shine above all on dry soil. And he's surprisingly good at it.
With a width of 30 millimeters, the tire is relatively narrow. The fine profile guarantees low rolling resistance. This is particularly noticeable on dry ground, but also in grass if you shift your weight to the rear wheel. Curves are easy to drive under these conditions. It only becomes dangerous when the ground softens. Then the tire tends to slide away quickly. The same applies in curves where gravel is spread. Caution is advised here.
The Michelin Cyclocross jet is intended for 2 to 5 bar. In use, an average filling of 3 bar was best.
Conclusion
If you are looking for a good tire with which you can be fast both on the road and in dry terrain, you drive with the Michelin Cyclocross jet certainly good. The low weight is another plus point. However, the tire does not like wet and slippery floors at all.
