Cycling: Tony Martin has become German champion in time trials for the fourth time and for the third time in a row. In Baunatal he was not deterred by a misdirection.
The reigning time trial world champion was the measure of all things in the German title fights right from the start. At the end of the 44.4 kilometer course he was 56 seconds faster than Nikias Arndt (Giant-Shimano) with a time of 22:57 minutes. Lars Teutenberg took third place with a time of 57:36 minutes.
Rain dominated events on the 14.8-kilometre circuit. However, Martin was not impressed. At the end of the first lap he also missed the turnoff to the second lap and lost a good minute as a result. Due to this mistake, he was not in the top position at the first split time. But just one lap later, Martin had restored the ranking and was now ahead of the competition. Until the end of the race, he continuously increased his lead.
In the women's race, Lisa Brennauer (Specialized-lululemon) once again underlined her current good form. She won with a time of 40:31 minutes ahead of her teammate Trixi Worrack and Charlotte Becker (Wiggle Honda).
