The watch specialist Suunto has started a cooperation with Strava, the global online social network for athletes. Strava members can share and compare their Suunto Ambit Collection activities recorded via GPS with their friends from April 28th. In addition, sports fans can now also select selected Suunto products in the Strava Shop buy. To celebrate the new partnership, Suunto and Strava have the Suunto Sisu Challenge brought to life. Sisu, the Finnish word for courage and perseverance, aims to invite and motivate Strava members to push their limits and run a distance of 17 km between May 01 and June 2014, 65.
All members who successfully complete this challenge during the 16-day period will receive the Suunto GPS watch for runners, a Suunto heart rate monitor and a three-month Strava Premium membership free of charge with the purchase of an Ambit2 R. Premium membership includes detailed heart rate analysis and other tools to help athletes train effectively, motivate them and have fun at the same time. Janne Kallio, Head of Digital Marketing at Suunto: “Many Suunto fans have requested this partnership between Suunto and Strava, and we are excited to now be able to offer it to all running and cycling fans. Suunto watch owners are excited about the new possibilities and Strava members are opening up a new, unique range of products. I'm excited to launch Suunto Ambit2 in the local Strava segments.”
David Lorsch, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Strava: “We are very excited about this partnership with Suunto and extend a warm welcome to their athlete community with the Suunto Sisu Challenge. Suunto watches give runners and cyclists all the crucial data to take full advantage of the motivational tools they get with a Strava Premium membership.”
The data transfer between Suunto's Movescount.com, the Suunto online community and Strava takes place automatically. Running or cycling parameters recorded by a Suunto GPS watch are sent directly from Movescount.com to Strava.
