cycling: Michael Rogers does not receive a sanction despite a positive test

23 April 2014 by the editorial office

rogers

Australia's Michael Rogers (Tinkoff-Saxo) will not be sanctioned despite testing positive for clenbuterol. This was announced today by the World Cycling Union UCI. Rogers was tested for the stimulus after winning the Japan Cup. The case was explosive because Rogers had previously competed in the Tour of Beijing and had probably eaten contaminated meat there. [Link]

"After careful consideration of the statement by Michael Rogers and some other reports, the UCI concludes that the possibility [...] from contaminated meat in China [...] cannot be ruled out", so the original sound of a message from the UCI. Rogers can now race again with it.

Jonathan Breyne, who also tested positive after taking part in the Tour of Taihu Lake in China and tried to commit suicide after being suspended by his team at the time, will probably be acquitted. [Link] At least that's what the newspaper reported Het Nieuwsblad. Breyne is currently signed to Belgian KT team Josan-To Win.
