Ukrainian Maksym Averin gave Team Synergy Baku their first win of the season at the Porec Trophy in Croatia. After 149 kilometers he prevailed in a bunch sprint ahead of the Austrian Daniel Biedermann (Gourmetfein Simplon) and Matej Mugerli (Adria Mobil). At the finish, Averin was overjoyed: "This is the first time in my life that I've been in good form in my first race of the season." His team manager David McQuaid was also full of praise: "I'm very happy for him. He is a very determined driver”, according to the Irishman.
Against the background of the current political situation in Averin's home country, the victory takes on a special significance. In the past few weeks he has only been able to train to a limited extent due to the developments. The issue of his visa was also only possible with the help of the Azerbaijani association.
