Ukrainian Maksym Averin secured the first victory of the season for Team Synergy Baku at the Porec Trophy in Croatia. After 149 kilometers, he prevailed in the mass sprint ahead of Austrian Daniel Biedermann (Gourmetfein Simplon) and Matej Mugerli (Adria Mobil). Averin was overjoyed at the finish: "This is the first time in my life that I've been in such good form at my first race of the season." His team manager, David McQuaid, was also full of praise: "I'm very happy for him. He's a very determined rider ," said the Irishman.
Against the background of the current political situation in Averin's home country, the victory takes on a special significance.
