General

General: Hackelberg Trail in Hinterglemm is being expanded

March 18, 2014 by the editorial office

background1

The Hackelberg Trail in Hinterglemm is one of the most famous trails in the Austrian mountains. With its long straights, flowing curves, the non-slip surface and the amazing view, it is also one of the most popular single trails in our editorial office.

background3

An expansion of the legendary Hacklberg Trail on the west summit in Hinterglemm is planned for summer 2014. The new section will begin at Hacklberg Alm and run a little above the existing fort road in the direction of Bergstadl / west summit middle station. The area is characterized by an extremely varied natural landscape, be it coniferous forests covered with lichens and mosses, wide meadows with stream crossings or idyllic alpine landscapes with low plants and free-standing trees. The ingenious scenery, paired with a versatile route, results in a trail experience in a class of its own.

background2

The planned middle section in combination with the existing Hacklberg Trail and the final Buchegg Trail result in around ten kilometers of concentrated downhill fun for everyone who is looking for their own kind. In addition, the charm of the huts and the hospitality of the managed establishments such as Bergstadl, Hacklberg Alm, Westgipfel Hütte or Gerstreit Alm promise a pure mountain experience on the west summit. All of these ingredients add up to a true super trail.
