This morning a report made the rounds, according to which the Track World Championships 2015 should again be held on the other side of the Atlantic. Aguascalientes in Mexico, venue of the second World Cup of the 2013/14 season, was named as the location. Here, according to the report, the international track cycling elite should look for their new title holders from February 18th to 22nd, 2015.
The world cycling association UCI has now officially denied this report on its website. A final decision is still a long time coming.
The train in Aguascalientes is 1887 meters high and is considered one of the fastest in the world. Several world records were broken at the World Cup in December. From a German perspective, Kristina Vogel, Miriam Welte, Joachim Eilers, Robert Förstemann and René Enders were primarily responsible for this. It would certainly be suitable as a venue for the title fights.
The Track World Championships 2016 will then be held in Europe again. Then London will welcome the rail elite.
