The German title fights in cyclocross will be held in Döhlau near Hof next weekend. The Qurfeldein association Team Kral is responsible for hosting the title fights. [Link]
The route was marked out in consultation with the Association of German Cyclists, but this meant that the originally planned sections in the forest had to be abandoned. "The BDR wanted the race to be closer to the spectators so that they could follow the course of the race better", the event manager Sebastian Procksch told us. For this reason, the route leads, for example, over a field edge, which is likely to draw strength from the drivers' legs, especially in adverse weather conditions. The further course of the route then leads the drivers largely over the flat stretches of meadow around the Döhlau stadium.
We were already there in advance to take a look at the route.
There are certainly more technically demanding routes. But the races will hardly be less strenuous. The speed-fixed drivers in particular should ensure this. In the elite, the victory is probably only over the defending champion Philipp Walsleben (BKCP-Powerplus), who was the best German in eleventh place last Sunday in Rome. Behind should be Marcel Meisen (Kwadro-Stannah), who has already celebrated two wins internationally this season, and Christoph Pfingsten (De Rijke), who won two races of the Germany Cup after a long injury break, with the Stevens drivers Michael Schweizer and Ole Quast fight for the places. But maybe Yannick Mayer (Bike Aid) and Sascha Weber (Veranclassic-Doltcini) can also join the fight.
Among the women, one can look forward to a duel between the defending champion Trixi Worrack (Specialized-lululemon) and the multiple world champion Hanka Kupfernagel (Shimano). The latter travels to Döhlau with an eleventh place at the World Cup in Rome. but Elisabeth Brandau (EBE Racing) is also capable of a strong race.
