André Greipel will start both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France next year. The reigning German champion announced this to Het Nieuwsblad . "I'm not afraid of two consecutive Grand Tours. I can handle the strain of these races quite well ," said the Rostock native.
Greipel is currently preparing for the season with his Lotto-Belisol team in Mallorca. His planned start at the Giro d'Italia will be his first in four years. So far, his palmarès includes two stage wins in two appearances in Italy. To add to these successes, he will compete in less demanding races in the spring. Participation in the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, as he did this year, is not planned. "I think I'll make my spring program a bit easier ," said Greipel, who also noted: "But I still dream of a Classics victory, perhaps at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne or Gent-Wevelgem."
