Bicycle computers that simultaneously record navigation and relevant data for detailed training control are currently very popular. In addition to manufacturers such as Garmin and Bryton, the German-based company O-Synce is also enjoying increasing popularity. We got the top model Navi2Coach take a closer look.
Facilities
The packaging of the Navi2Coach In addition to the device, it also contains brackets and sensors to measure speed and cadence. A chest strap for heart rate measurement was also included in the package. The Navi2Coach is ANT+-capable and can therefore also be ridden in conjunction with a power meter, whereby both crank sides can be displayed separately.
The display allows many different functions to be displayed, from the usual parameters such as heart rate and cadence, to altitude, to temperature and time (the display lighting switches on automatically depending on the time of day). A total of five pages with up to eight functions can be programmed. Thanks to a built-in GPS sensor, training routes can not only be planned, but also recorded.
Practice
From the beginning it shows Navi2Coach intuitive. It can also be easily adjusted without instructions. This also applies to the connection with a power meter. We chose the handlebar mount for our test. This is practical in that it places the device over the handlebar clamp and thus ensures a tidier look. However, one should make sure that the Navi2Coach correctly in the holder - otherwise it can easily jump out on rough ground.
From the first pedal rotation, the device records the distance covered. This is traced on the display with a line. The other parameters are displayed numerically so that you are always up to date on the go. After the training you can view the recordings as .gpxfile respectively .fit-Save file. Using the O-Synce own TrainingLabsoftware, which is currently only available for PC, you can monitor your training. The software also offers the possibility of planning the training or the tour in advance and on the Navi2Coach to play. But: If you prefer to use providers like Strava or TrainingPeaks instead of the supplied software, you can also feel free with the Navi2Coach.
In addition to the high level of practicality, we particularly liked the clever display lighting. Those who often ride their bikes in the cool half of the year will appreciate them - especially since they still allow good visibility even when it's wet. For those who often travel by MTB or trekking bike, O-Synce also offers an ANT+ remote control. This is deliberately placed next to the handles and makes it easier to operate the Navi2Coach.
Conclusion
The Navi2Coach presents itself as a loyal friend for everyday life. In terms of its size, it ranks between the market-leading Garmin devices Edge 500 and Edge 800 a. In terms of its functions, however, it is equal to these. It is ANT+-capable, allows controlled training as well as pre-planned weekend trips and has a variety of functions that is certainly not to be expected for the price of 199,00.
