The Sigma ROX GPS 11.0 is Sigma's new top model when it comes to cycle computers. Innovations such as the use of Strava Live Segments, improved screens and simpler operation with only 4 buttons should ensure more driving pleasure compared to the previous versions. Velomotion has extensively tested the Sigma ROX GPS 11.0 over the past few days.
The ROX GPS 11.0 is aimed at ambitious racing cyclists who want to have their values to hand quickly and safely during training. In addition to the basic variant (computer incl. accessories), a set with the two new transmitters R1 DUO for heart rate and R2 DUO Combo for speed and cadence is also available. In terms of color, you can choose between black and white.
Sigma ROX GPS 11.0 - Connectivity
The Sigma uses the interfaces ANT+, WLAN and Bluetooth and thus guarantees excellent connectivity. ANT+ can be used to connect to a wide variety of sensors, such as heart rate monitors, cadence or power meters. In addition to its own ANT+ sensors, the ROX GPS 11.0 is also compatible with SRAM eTap and Shimano Di2. The new transmitters R1 DUO for heart rate and R2 DUO Combo for speed and cadence transmit not only to ANT+ but also to Bluetooth Smart compatible devices. This means that all important data can be sent to the ROX 11.0 and the smartphone with any compatible app. In conjunction with the Sigma Link app, the Sigma ROX GPS 11.0 can also show incoming calls or messages live on the display and play previously loaded tracks directly on the ROX GPS 11.0 via Bluetooth Smart. The other way around, tour data can also be read out and synchronized with the data center via the Sigma Cloud.
Sigma Rox GPS 11.0 Operation
The operating concept has been reduced to four buttons and seems to be even more intuitive. The handlebar mount has also been redesigned compared to the ROX 10.0 and is a lot smaller. As a result, the computer holds very well and does not wobble even with potholes or cobblestones. In the beginning, however, we had some problems getting the computer into the holder because the locking mechanism was very stiff the first time. After a few rides, the problem went away on its own. Other features include improved screens and a bright display that ensures good readability in a wide range of lighting conditions. The training pages can be set individually, but are still very confusing due to the many functions. It took us some time to set ourselves up and always have all the information to hand. However, you have the option to choose between three preset user profiles, which can make things a little easier. With a new additional track navigation, it is also possible to name the waypoints with a personal note. The points can be set individually here and are announced by a waypoint alarm. A 3-axis compass supports the GPS to facilitate navigation. The altitude is measured by an integrated barometer. The current gradient can also be displayed, which can be very helpful, especially on slightly uphill straights. Often you don't even notice that it's going slightly uphill and you only notice that it's suddenly rolling very badly. With the help of this function you can directly see why.
Sigma ROX GPS 11.0 – Strava Live Segments
The integration of the Strava Live Segments is completely new at Sigma. While driving you will be shown as soon as you approach a segment. When the segment is reached, a live comparison is shown on the display and the competition against the KOM/QOM (King/Queen of Mountain) or the personal best time begins. You can also use Strava to load different routes directly onto the Sigma ROX GPS 11.0 and add your favorite segments.
