Cycling: After the third rest day, tomorrow's Tour de France will take us to the Pyrenees. A breakaway will probably triumph in Foix. But an attack on the yellow jersey is also possible.
The steep Mur de Péguère
After the tough second week of the tour, the pros of the Tour de France have earned their third rest day. But already on Tuesday we continue directly with the dreaded Pyrenees. 178,5 kilometers have to be completed from Carcassonne to Foix. The Côte de Saint-Hilaire and the Col de l'Espinas will not have a decisive influence on the day's result at the beginning of the race. But the Port de Lers and especially the Mur de Péguère should not be underestimated. Overall, this final climb of the day is 9,4 kilometers long and has an average gradient of 7,6 percent. The final ramp, however, is 3,6 kilometers long and a whopping 11,4 percent steep.
Velomotion prognosis: Caruso wins the day
Anyone who still wants to get involved in the battle for the mountains classification has to join the breakaway group tomorrow. This also applies to all those outside the top 10 if they want to take a leap forward in the overall standings. So tomorrow we will see an active early stage again as many riders want to be part of the escape group. Jumbo - Visma will attempt to moderately control the group and will not let anyone who is a threat to them leave jonas vingegaard could be. In the Mur de Péguère Tadej pogacar launch a major attack. But maybe he will already go on the offensive at Port de Lers. However, an outlier takes the day's victory. We tap Damian Caruso. The Italian could join his Belgian teammate Dylan teuns go into the group and win the day in Foix.
