Cycling: Unsurprisingly, Team Jumbo - Visma was also one of the strongest on the UCI WorldTour in the 2021 season. We can expect something similar in 2022.
Jumbo - Visma 2021: Dominant and successful
In recent years, the Jumbo - Visma team has upgraded properly. Many top riders have joined the team and the results have proven that the restructuring has paid off. After 2020 was the team's most successful year, the 2021 season also fits seamlessly into this series of successes. Primois Roglic won the Vuelta a Espana for the third year in a row. He also triumphed in the Basque Country Tour. He crowned his impressive year with the gold medal in the Olympic time trial. He was unlucky in the Tour de France. Jumped into the breach for him Jonas Vingegaard. The young Dane impressed for three weeks and ultimately finished the Tour of France in second place. He did the same behind his team-mate in the Basque Country. He also won the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali and a stage on the UAE Tour. However, the star of the team this year was nonetheless Wout van Aert. The Belgian caused a stir when he won three stages of the Tour de France, each on different terrain. He was also unstoppable at the Amstel Gold Race and at Gent – Wevelgem.
Jumbo – Visma 2022: Is dissatisfaction imminent?
It is actually already clear that Team Jumbo - Visma will also be among the best teams on the UCI WorldTour in 2022. Many drivers are absolutely world class and overall the team can compete for victories on any terrain. But that could be the big problem. With Primoz Roglich, Jonas Vingegaard, Tom Dumoulin, Steven Kruijswijk and Sepp kuss there are at least five strong GC drivers in the squad. Dylan Groenewegen, Mike Teunissen, and Christophe Laporte and wout van aert can all win a bunch sprint. Not all professionals can be nominated for the races they would like to win. There is a risk of dissatisfaction. The Tour de France alone could be exciting as Wout van Aert has announced that he wants to win the green jersey and has said he would like a supportive team at his side.
Transfers: Three Germans go, one comes
The transfer phase went well for the Dutch team. With George Bennett and Antwan Toehoek one lost two strong helpers for the mountains, but in Rohan Dennis at least one outlet could be replaced directly. Tosh van der Sande and Christophe Laporte strengthen the team more in terms of sprints and classics. With Tony Martin, Paul Martens and Christopher Pentecost three Germans leave the team. But thanks Michael Hessman At least one German will drive for Jumbo - Visma in 2022. The 20-year-old is considered a great talent - especially in time trials.
