Politt wins in breakaway solo
The twelfth stage of the Tour de France was then a matter for the escapees. 13 men were able to break away from the peloton on the 159,4-kilometer section from Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux to Nîmes. And since the lead was increasing rapidly and no sprint team took responsibility, it quickly became clear that the breakaway group would be able to decide the day's victory among themselves. When the lead was well over 10 minutes, disagreement began in the leading group. attacked 50 kilometers from the finish Nils Politt (Bora – hansgrohe) for the first time. His competitors were floored while he raced towards the stage win, carried by the euphoria. Nils Politt thus celebrates his first day's victory in a Grand Tour! At the same time, it is the first German stage victory in this year's Tour de France.

Sagan has to give up the Tour de France
