Trekking bikes: These are your favorites for 2021
Trekking bikes are dead? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! Even if the e-bike boom of the last few years has intensified the swan song for the classic all-rounders, every season shows anew that there is still a lot of demand and a great deal of innovative spirit. The new Black Lava by Rose was able to secure victory here by a clear margin. It combines an elegant, timeless look with high-quality components and an extremely attractive price. The Koga F3 7.0 is a bit more classic in second place, while the Pegasus E-Stremo P18 with Pinion gear and toothed belt scores with an extremely low-maintenance drive with a large bandwidth at the same time.
The brand new Black Lava from Rose proves that despite all the trends, trekking bikes are far from being old-fashioned. The sender's decision to equip all equipment variants with hub gears and belt drives is interesting. So you get a carefree overall package that also has an attractive weight thanks to the high-quality add-on parts including the carbon fork. Completely integrated trains and smooth welding seams also give it an incomparably elegant look.
Price: 1.599 – 3.299 euros
When it comes to touring and touring bikes, the Dutch brand has a phenomenal reputation. The Koga F3 7.0 more than lives up to this: a slim, flawlessly crafted aluminum frame and a vibration- and shock-absorbing rigid carbon fork add up to an elegant set that is perfectly complemented by Shimano's extremely reliable Deore XT group. With 3×10 gears, this set is equipped for every application, although Koga sees the F12, which weighs almost 3 kilos, primarily on the road.
Price: € 1.999
With its top model, Pegasus offers friends of fine bicycle technology a very special treat: a bottom bracket gearbox with 18 gears is installed on the Estremo P18, which at 636% achieves an unrivaled range of gear ratios. Manufactured in automotive quality, the precision gear is perfect for touring cyclists and long-distance cyclists who want maximum reliability. Belt drive, disc brakes and robust trekking tires also ensure optimum functionality.
Price: € 2.999

Trekking E-Bikes: These are your favorites for 2021
When it comes to trekking e-bikes, the boundaries between e-MTBs and e-MTBs are blurring a little more every year. This is also evident in the winner of the category, the Haibike Adventr - which with its full-blown suspension fork and large-volume tires is actually almost an MTB at heart - if it weren't for the elegantly integrated luggage rack or the powerful lighting system, for example. The other two bikes on the podium are more classic in the direction of trekking, whereby both the Kathmandu from Cube and the Aventura² from Focus rely on a suspension fork and wide tires.
With its stretched silhouette, the Adventr from the E-MTB pioneer Haibike appears sporty and dynamic, and the driving impression confirms this: With 120 Nm of torque, the Flyon mid-motor pushes extremely hard; A flat steering angle and a lot of spring travel at the front ensure full road holding and optimum driving safety. 27,5-inch wheels with powerfully profiled tires and a wide range of eleven gears offer MTB flair, plus a futuristic luggage rack with an integrated rear light.
Prices: 4.999 – 5.999 euros
Focus presents off-road all-rounders with a lot of comfort. With the Aventura², travel and touring riders who are also on the road on bad roads are happy about wide, non-slip tires and suspension forks with 100 mm travel. All models are powered by the powerful Bosch CX motor; in the top version, the Aventura² comes with a wide range of twelve gears. Otherwise, attention is paid to high-quality equipment, which includes solid aluminum mudguards, among other things.
Price: 2.999 – 4.199 euros
Frame-fixed luggage rack, suspension fork with 100 mm travel, widely graduated derailleur gears and Bosch CX motor: With the Kathmandu, Cube puts a top-equipped e-trekking bike on the bikes, which is priced very interestingly. With high handlebars and suspension seat posts, all models are very comfortable, and all versions are available in three frame shapes. The models with a low step-through in particular are ideal as comfortable all-rounders that offer a lot of potential on tours and in everyday life.
Prices: 2.533 – 4.093 euros
SUV e-bikes: these are your favorites for 2021
The result of mixing trekking and MTB are the increasingly popular SUV e-bikes: actually sporty e-MTBs, but optimized for everyday use or touring bikes. Just take your favourite, the Goroc4 from Flyer: on the one hand you get 140 mm of travel and trail-ready equipment, on the other hand full equipment including mudguards and lighting. The Erzberg from M1 is even a bit more sporty and looks elegant with its carbon frame, while Nicolai takes the SUV concept to the extreme with the G1 EBOXX. However, the classy enduro works surprisingly well as a smooth-running touring bike for really any terrain.
In view of a lively and powerful Panasonic GX Ultimate motor, sensitive 140 mm chassis and MTB tires, the sporty DNA of the Goroc4 is all too clear. Due to the high-quality full equipment, the all-rounder from the Swiss e-bike manufacturer from the very beginning can also be used excellently in everyday life. The semi-integrated battery with a capacity of up to 750 Wh can also be easily removed from the side. Nice!
E-bike all-rounder with off-road potential: Test Flyer Goroc4 4.10
Test Flyer Goroc4: A lot of potential instead of a niche: With the Goroc4 4.10, e-bike pioneer Flyer presents a trekking fully that has proven itself in everyday use as well as off-road. In the test, Velomotion took a closer look at the Swiss SUV with a clear conscience. More and more technology, more and more possibilities: The world of bicycles and e-bikes is becoming more and more […]
With the Erzberg, the carbon specialists from M1 Sporttechnik have a hot iron in the fire for the coming season. The bike powered by a Brose Drive S Mag motor is also available as a fully equipped GT version. This is how the off-road rowdy suddenly becomes a serious companion for the way to the office or the tour at the weekend. Thanks to the large 750 Wh battery, the latter can be a little longer. And: It wouldn't be a real M1 e-bike if the Erzberg GT weren't also available as an S-Pedelec.
Price: 7.499 euros – 7.999 euros
With a specially adapted explorer kit, the aluminum experts from Nicolai transform their Bosch e-bike G1 EBOXX into a genuine SUV e-bike. In addition to SKS mudguards, this also includes a Tubus luggage rack and a lighting system from Supernova. The high-quality chassis provides 160 mm of spring travel, with which you can also throw in a trail during the tour. The E14 variant is also one of the very few full-suspension E-MTBs on the market that is equipped with a belt drive and a Rohloff shifting hub.
Price: 8.239 euros – 10.169 euros
