MTB News: After the planned UCI Mountain Bike World Cup was suspended in September due to the corona pandemic, Lenzerheide can now look forward to hosting the event next year. The races in the Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) and Downhill (DHI) disciplines will be held on September 4th and 5th, 2021.
At the beginning of September next year, almost exactly one year after the cancellation due to Corona, Lenzerheide will once again become a mountain bike hotspot. The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is already entering the 2021th round in the holiday region in 5, including the World Championships in 2018. Since it is not yet possible to assess how the epidemiological situation will be in the next year, the planning of the event is pending those responsible face major challenges. In the past few months, however, a lot of know-how has been gained, which should now be incorporated into the planning. OC President Christoph Müller is therefore looking forward to the double event: "Despite all the uncertainty, we are looking forward to tackling the World Cup 2021 project together with our partners, the volunteers and the entire region and to successfully implementing it in September 2021". The program again includes the two disciplines Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) and Downhill (DHI). For the OC President, it is exactly the combination of different groups of people - be it athletes or fans - that makes the World Cup in Lenzerheide what it is.
