Product news / e-bike: KTM is sending its children's e-MTBs into the 2021 season equipped with a completely new frame. The Bosch e-bikes rely on integrated batteries and are visually based on the adult models. We were able to get a first impression of the KTM Macina Mini Me on site.
Five years ago, KTM was one of the first manufacturers to offer a special e-bike for children – the Macina Mini Me. The Austrians showed a willingness to take risks and had to take some criticism; Motorized bikes for kids are a hotly debated topic. However, the increasing variety of models in this regard shows that the small e-bikes have now fully arrived on the market. It is often the only way to go on challenging tours together with younger children.
E-bikes: KTM Myroon, Macina Force and Mini Me: family tour in black and orange
Test: Go biking with an eight-year-old? What normally fails due to the landscape profile works extremely well with the support drive. On this family excursion with three completely different KTM mountain bikes, not only was the difference in performance between dad (KTM Myroon Master) and mom (KTM Macina Force 27) evened out - the junior also got […]
Bosch power and solid equipment
As a former trendsetter, it was now time for 2021 to give the Macina Mini Me a proper makeover. This is impressively successful: the two new models (with 24 and 26 inch wheels) are among the very few children's and youth e-bikes with fully integrated batteries in the down tube.
When it comes to the drive, KTM relies on Bosch power in both Macina Mini Me variants: the "small" Mini Me 241 uses an Active Line Plus motor throttled to 20km/h and a Powertube 400 battery, the 26-inch model has the same performance Line motor and 500 Wh battery more power and more capacity on board.
The other equipment is appropriate for the area of use: In addition to a 9-speed gear system from the Shimano Alivio series, both bikes are also equipped with an air suspension fork. In the head tube of the Macina Mini Me 241 is an SR Suntour XCR Air with 63mm travel, the larger Mini Me 261 comes with RockShox Judy Silver and 80mm. There are also small differences in the brakes: With the Shimano MT400, the 26 inch E-MTB has a little more braking power than the 24 inch version with the MT200.
